Introduction to Intermittent Fasting
Many of my female friends and acquaintances reached out to me and asked me how I lost so much weight after I’d come out of the first phase lock-down here in Vietnam. For over a year, I have been slowly and gradually losing my weight but most people hardly noticed that because they saw me everyday and I was just the same old Esther. The lock-down though, led to many of us keeping out of touch for weeks because of social distancing. in April when the government lifted the lock-down, so many of my friends were amazed by how much weight I’d lost. I’d lost an extra 11 kilos in 3 months! It was a huge change for them but deep down, I knew I’d lost over 20 kilos total in less than a year. They just weren’t seeing it before.
So when my inbox was filled with message requests asking how I lost the weight and what advice I could give, I decided to start up an online platform to answer these questions. I couldn’t possibly keep saying the same thing 50 times over. That’s right! I received over 50 requests in text, messenger, calls and from face to face meetups. here I am, to share my personal experience and help guide you on your journey to a new lifestyle of fasting.
So as a result, I started a you tube Channel- femfast studio, IG @femfast_studio and a Facebook page @femfastudio. Please follow, like and subscribe to these pages as I will be putting weekly content to help you get started. Feel free to contact me through email on here as well for any personal queries. It’s been an exciting journey and I’m happy to help anyone the best way I can.
My personal journey with Intermittent fasting started in May 2019 and it has absolutely changed my life. In 11 months, I lost a total of 55 pounds (24 kg) and I’ve never felt as good as I do today. I have set 4 different target weights, I started at 87.2 kg and aimed for 78 kg, when I got to that , i changed to 73 Kg, then 65 and i am currently weighing 62kgs aiming for 60 Kg. Its amazing how so much positive change can push you to work even harder! I plan to keep maintaining that weight with IF and not losing or gaining any more. If you’ve struggled with weight then you know how frustrating it can be spending tones of money trying out quick, short term solutions to a forever stressful weight loss problem. The stress of those numbers going up the scale every time you weigh yourself is a shared concern. You’re not alone, and it’s okay to accept that in order to make a real change!
After the births of my children I gained a lot of weight. I tried many diets and paid for quick fixes and that all worked fine except I gained it all back and more shortly after.
What is this intermittent fasting?
IF is an ancient feeding technique, that has for centuries, been practiced by millions for religious, spiritual and health reasons. It refers to periods of fasting occurring between eating windows. It usually involves fasting between 12 hours or more. There are so many ways you can intermittent fast like the 13 hr synced circadian rhythm were you keep your feeding window within 11 to 12 hours a day and fast for the other 12. So you can have breakfast at 7 am and have your last meal at 6 to 7 pm; the 16.8 which is the most popular one, I call it 2 meals a day. With this one, you skip one meal and eat the other 2 meals within an 8 hour feeding window; the 5:2 were u eat normal for 5 days and eat 500 calories or less for 2 days. You pick and choose which 2 days in the week those are, OMAD (one meal a day) or the 20:4 which is for advanced fasters and trains your body to burn multiple sources of fuel for energy; extended fasting which ranges from 24 hrs to 7 days or more and great for achieving autophagy and an increased growth hormone level. I personally do not recommend …
