Street style; the best trends to wear this year.
Earlier this year, the Fall/winter 2018 fashion Week delivered unpredictable style trends that caught alot of attention. The winterwear was certainly iconic and the trends captured from the runways to the streets of New York, London, Milan and Paris were absolutely “realistic!”
check out our favourite street style trends that are a fall must have.
1. TRANSPARENT RAINCOATS
How do you feel about cold winter mornings coupled with a torrent downpour? Not a favorable choice, I guess. This winter we are going to see a lot of PVC transparent raincoats which are not only a unique fashion statement but also ensure that you remain dry and the best part is, you will not have to compromise your style by hiding what's underneath.
2. CLASSIC TRENCH
Trench coats are an absolute favourite and will always an epic fashion statement for several women in winter. The upgraded versions of trench coats flaunt distinct creativity and classic designs which you simply can’t take your eyes off. if you need to enhance the silhouette, throw on a long belt and you're good to go!
3. SCARVES
long, large and extra fluff wool scarves are a classic accessory for winter. Designer brand versions however feature logo type designs and they come in various colours. There's lots of ways to wrap this fashion accessory around your neck to emphasize your winter styling and keep warm.
4. SOFT LEATHER
While leather jackets are a known staple for many women, 2018 has seen many designers take this luxurious fabric and give its hard nature a softer side. Be it chunky jackets or light dresses, women this season were spotted wearing soft leather with intricate designs and sophisticated detail. Faux or real? its obvious that this version has made leather more acceptable with the modern woman and less "teenage rebel" allowing many women to tap into the trend.
5. TURTLE NECKS
Another timeless piece, the turtle neck is back on trend but i'm not sure it ever left. Turtle necks are a great piece to have because they work so well on their own and still look fabulous when layered! They bear a silhouette that covers you all the way to your neck and can be form fitting or free sized tops and dresses. overall, turtle necks are the best transitional pieces to wear this fall.
6. FLOWERS
Dynamic florals are no longer reserved for spring only. As winter gets more bitter, floral prints become more fresh and radiant. These nature inspired 60's designs predominantly feature flowers and give a playful, wild side to fall styling that doesn't always have to be blocks of dull colours. loving it!
7. ANIMAL PRINT
Animal print for time immemorial has been seen as a symbol of royalty and wealth. over the years, many fashion and apparel designers have contributed greatly to bringing it into mainstream fashion. When animal print first hit the street fashion scene, people were advised to wear less of it in order to look good in it. This season however, many men and women can be seen wearing a mishmash of luxurious prints and layering them altogether to create a stunning style sense. More is just right!
8. SILVER
Silver has for a long time been a colour associated with futuristic fashion. This fall, a sparkling colour palette of Silver and space grey is hitting the streets with sequins and metallic fabrics. The designs are more realistic and can be seen with jackets, dresses, skirts, pants and various accessories as well. You do not have to wear high shine fashion trend in the night only; with top styling, silver is an awesome day time colour as well.
9. CAPES
Capes are a luxurious outerwear alternative to the everyday classic coats. Their superhero silhouette has been spotted on the streets in interesting fabrics, sizes and weights and in various prints and patterns. They are extremely fashionable and easy to wear as they look great with most everything.
10. LONG KNIT DRESSES
Form fitting maxi knit dresses with extra long sleeves are a street favourite this winter. Many have amazing little details like turtle necks and asymmetrical hemlines and are a great piece for layering as they combine greatly with everyday apparel. They'll keep you warm and cozy without weighing you down.
11. PLAID
2018 has been a year of acceptable fashion risks. And while we are all used to the dominant check print for winter wear, Plaid is ruling this season. It can be worn in unexpected pairings together with other prints and patterns. even plaid on plaid of various colours and fabric combinations is a style sight for sore eyes this fall.
12. LAYERING
Layering is a great transitional style and a top trend this season. The combinations that can be put together with it are endless! The key to pulling off this trend is making sure you do not look bulky. Be it dresses over jeans ,tees over sweaters or even jackets over coats, many unexpected combinations are very much acceptable and easily adoptable. You can mix prints and patterns and streamline your layers for a very stylish and effortlessly chic look. so what are you waiting for?!
13. RED
This ultimate fiery color is pleasant with varying tones and warm hues of cherry, wine, scarlet, ruby and rose and has been a dominant element on the streets this year. its a very chic, sexy and elegant colour and can be seen in most outerwear ensembles.
14. ALLURING THIGH HIGH BOOTS
Vibrant. Classy. Sensuous. I mean, just look at them! These thigh high boots are everything. The varieties in colour are never-ending but Red has stood out the most this season. Muted cherries, Bordeaux shades, gleaming poppy reds in patent leather, suede or velvet fabric. The best thing about these red boots is that they are versatile and inspiring and pair well with almost anything from your wardrobe.
These street style trends are a raving high among women this winter. I was personally impressed with the stunning thigh-high red boots and might just accessorize them with my skirt.
